Chad V. Johnson

Chad V. Johnson, 47, of Waukon died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. A private burial was held at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Chad Victor Johnson was born May 8, 1972, to Larry and Sharon (Marti) Johnson. As a young boy, Chad was blonde haired, brown faced, spirited, and reckless. Chad was intelligent, quick-witted, and his laugh was infectious. He also had a great sense of humor and was not afraid to share it.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent most of his time outdoors. Chad loved animals and all of nature. He also appreciated music of all kinds and this quality never left him. Chad had a deep love for his boys Jonah and Gabe. This love was what drove him during his 20 year battle with MS. No one that knew Chad would ever question his courage or strength. Most of all, they would never doubt the love he had for his children. He left this world surrounded by loved ones and will be dearly missed.

Chad is survived by his children Jonah and Gabriel Johnson of Decorah; his mom Sharon Johnson of Decorah; siblings: Jason (Heather) Johnson of Dorchester, Kim Schmauss of Decorah, Jeremiah Johnson of Decorah, and Ashley (Justin) Ahlstrom of Waukon; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad Larry Johnson.

Casketbearers were Jadon, Haley, Judah, Josiah, Hazel, and Henrietta Johnson, Owen Frieden, Stella, Greta, and Gus Ransom, and Vera and Isaiah Ahlstrom.
