Robey Memorial Library 2020 Adult Reading Challenge underway with a theme of “Imagine Your Story”

“Imagine Your Story” is the theme of Robey Memorial Library’s 2020 Adult Reading Challenge which began January 1 and will end December 31. Robey Memorial Library challenges area residents to read something new or different this year.

Receive a prize drawing entry for reading from one of each of 12 categories: fantasy fiction; myth or legend (F/NF); based on a true story (F/NF); biography; letter or journal (F/NF); reader’s choice; recommended; bestseller; graphic novel or picture book; award-winning; non-fiction; and book a participant has been meaning to read.

Prizes will be awarded by random drawing after the challenge is complete December 31 of this year. Prizes include a Kindle/tablet, Waukon Bucks and local business gift certificate bundle. Books must be read during the 2020 calendar year to be eligible for the drawing. Participants can submit their entry form to the library or online throughout the year. Bonus entries are awarded to participants who complete all 12 categories.

Area residents or visitors are also welcome to take part in regularly scheduled programming at Robey Memorial Library. The following programs are open to anyone.

Thursday Night Book Club meets the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. and discusses a wide variety of books. February’s selection will be thrift, gift or used book.

Learn something new at Robey Memorial Library during one of its Live & Learn series offered the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The January program will be Using BRIDGES (downloading ebooks and audiobooks) Thursday, January 30. Upcoming programs include Cultivating Hardwood Log Mushrooms; History of Aprons; Iowa Fraud Fighters; Generation RX; Storyteller Darrin Crow and more.
