Lansing City Council sets public hearing regarding maximum levy

by Alexis Johnson

The regular meeting of the Lansing City Council was held Tuesday, February 4 due to a scheduling conflict with the usual Monday meeting date this particular month. The discussion at the meeting centered around the consent agenda, parks report and clerk’s report.

A motion was made and seconded to send out correspondence regarding special permit requirements for the front patio/step area of the property located at 691 South Front Street advising that the property owner will be fined for failure to fill out the required building permit. The garage addition located in the rear of the property will also need to be lowered to a height of 22 feet or less, with that change needing to be made by May 31 of this year to avoid further action.

Resolution #934 was approved to allow for the transfer of funds in the amount of $2,000 from Special Revenue Funds to General Funds to pay for splash pad invoices. A motion was made and seconded with minimal discussion to approve Resolution #934.

A public hearing was set for the March 2 council meeting for the maximum levy (tax) rate regarding property tax dollars to be certified.
