Gerald Plagge

Gerald “Jerry” Plagge, 70, of Cataract, WI, formerly of New Albin, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his home. A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at the Community Center in New Albin. Burial with military honors will follow at the City Cemetery.

Gerald was born September 10, 1949 in La Crosse, WI to Norbert and Evelyn (Krueger) Plagge. Jerry grew up in New Albin and was a 1967 graduate of Kee High School in Lansing. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years as an infantryman in Vietnam. Jerry enjoyed tinkering, rummage sales, auctions and socializing. As a proud veteran, he was grateful to have traveled on the 2019 Freedom Honor Flight to D.C.

Survivors include his son, BJ (Becky) Plagge; two grandsons, Seth and Alex Plagge; his sister, Renie Plagge; his significant other, Nancy Whitaker; and all of Nancy’s loving family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe Plagge; his sister, Jean Wurm; and his niece, Jodie Eckert.

Jerry will be very missed by all, especially those who called him Grandpa. He loved being that very unique and special Grandpa to so many grandchildren.
