Waukon boys track team finishes second at own Indian Relays


First to the finish ... Delaney topped all runners in that field by more than 18 seconds, clocking in at 5:00.82. He also led off the track Tribe’s 4x800 relay squad to a third-place finish in a time of 9:01.17. The Waukon boys track team wrapped up its home schedule Friday, April 23 when the track Tribe hosted six other teams at its annually scheduled Indian Relays. Winning four events and finishing second in three more - all in individual efforts, the Indians were able to rack up 137 team points and finish second in their final home meet of the season, with this season’s five seniors, Konnor Krambeer, Sawyer Krueger, Ryan Lubahn, John O’Neill and Creed Welch, each competing one final time at their home track and field venue.

Having a Monday, April 19 meet at Decorah canceled due to weather, the Indians were next scheduled to compete Monday, April 26 at Oelwein and again Monday, May 3 at New Hampton before preparing for their Northeast Iowa Conference Meet Thursday, May 6 at Decorah. The track Tribe will then prepare for its Thursday, May 13 Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Jesup.
