DOT seeking public input on Black Hawk Bridge project at September 27 in-person, online meetings

Public comment due October 11

The Iowa and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation (DOT) are holding a public information meeting and providing information online as a means to gather public input for a proposed replacement of the Iowa 9/Wisconsin 82 (Black Hawk) Bridge in Lansing over the Mississippi River, connecting Allamakee and Crawford, WI Counties. The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 27 between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at Kee High School, located at 569 Center Street in Lansing.

The Iowa DOT is providing two meeting formats for the public meeting, including the in-person event and an at-your-own-pace virtual meeting available after the in-person event. Depending on COVID conditions in the community, the meeting may need to be moved completely online. If that happens, updates will be found online at www.iowadot.gov/pim.

The September 27 in-person public meeting will be conducted utilizing an open house format. Iowa DOT staff and consultants will be present to informally discuss the proposed improvements, design and right of way. No formal presentation will be made.

The meeting space is accessible for persons with disabilities. However, those who require special accommodations at the meeting should notify the Iowa DOT contact listed in this article by September 22.

ONLINE MEETING AT YOUR OWN PACE
The at-your-own-pace meeting can be viewed online anytime between September 27-October 11 of this year, and it is recommended that those viewing use a Google Chrome internet browser. The online meeting can be viewed by going to www.iowadot.gov/pim and clicking on “IA 9 Bridge Meeting #5 Own Pace”. Those viewing the online meeting will experience a self-guided tour of proposed bridge improvements and can submit comments and questions at any time during the comment period. Those who do not have access to the internet, or who may need assistance viewing the materials, should contact the DOT representative listed in this article.
