Noel Protsman

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Noel Lee Protsman, 90, of Lansing May 29, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Waukon. At her request, no service will be held.

Noel was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Early; her husband, Lawrence (Dutch) Protsman; her son, Stephen Protsman; and her daughter, Lisa (Protsman) Batteen.

Noel is survived by her son, David Protsman; her son-in-law, Tom Batteen; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Curran) Protsman; and her eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and their families.

Noel was born December 31, 1931 in Columbus, OH to William and Frances Early. She lived in California from an early age to her teenage years. She married Lawrence (Dutch) Protsman June 3, 1948 in Biloxi, MS at Kessler Air Force Base. They settled in Lansing in 1954 where they raised their three children.

Noel worked at the Lansing button factory for 10 years and owned the Protsman Laundromat with her husband from 1966 to 1996. She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandma and a wonderful friend to many in the community.

She loved spending time with her family, and she loved her dogs who she spoiled just like her grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and would offer to help anyone who needed it, and she was very generous with her children and grandchildren.

Dutch and Noel were great bakers and their family looked forward to the Christmas boxes of homemade baked goods they mailed out each year until they retired. You could taste the love in every bite. They passed on their recipes to their children and grandchildren so they could continue to enjoy their favorites. Her family and friends will cherish the sweet memories they have with her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
