Kee baseball’s undefeated week creates five shut-outs, including back-to-back victories over fellow Class 1A top 10-rated South Winneshiek and Don Bosco

A full slate of seven games not only resulted in an undefeated week for the Kee baseball team but also included five shut-outs that helped produce a 70-3 outscoring of its six opponents, with two of those shut-outs coming against teams also rated within Class 1A’s top-10 teams to push the baseball Hawks to a 20-2 overall record that includes an unblemished, 10-0 mark in Upper Iowa Conference play. The Hawks first swept Clayton Ridge in a Monday, June 6 doubleheader, 16-1 in four innings and 10-0 in five innings, and defeated Nashua-Plainfield at Upper Iowa University in Fayette Tuesday, June 7, 7-2. The Kee boys then began a final string of four straight shut-outs that included an 11-0 win at South Winneshiek Thursday, June 9, a Friday, June 10 triumph, 6-0, over Don Bosco at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, and a sweep of two games at the Cedar River Classic at St. Ansgar Saturday, June 11, defeating both Charles City and the host Saints by equal scores of 10-0 in five and six innings, respectively.

The Hawks were next scheduled to host Janesville Monday, June 13 and play at Turkey Valley Tuesday, June 14 before hosting MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 16 and then playing in the Hillcrest Academy Tournament at Kalona Saturday, June 18. The Kee boys will then host South Winneshiek for a doubleheader Monday, June 20, play a single game at Postville Tuesday, June 21 and at Clayton Ridge Thursday, June 23 before playing in the Waterloo Bucks Tournament Saturday, June 25.
