Waukon baseball team’s four wins in seven games include home NEIC splits against Crestwood and New Hampton

A full slate of seven games in five days saw the Waukon baseball team put four of those in the win column to improve to a 7-9 season mark that includes a 3-7 record in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play. The Indians swept a home doubleheader from Turkey Valley Monday, June 6 by scores of 3-2 and 5-1 before splitting a similar match-up at home with Crestwood Tuesday, June 7 with a 6-2 loss in game one followed by a 10-0 triumph in five innings. The Indians then fell at home to Union, 8-4, Wednesday, June 8 and split another home NEIC twinbill Friday, June 10 against New Hampton, winning the first game, 1-0, in walk-off fashion before falling hard in the nightcap, 12-2, in five innings.

The Indians are next scheduled to play a varsity doubleheader at Crestwood Monday, June 13, play at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 15, host Osage Thursday, June 16 and play a varsity doubleheader at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 17. The diamond Tribe will then play a trio of varsity doubleheaders the following week, at New Hampton Tuesday, June 21 and at home against Oelwein and Decorah on back-to-back nights, Thursday, June 23 and Friday, June 24.
