The Veterans Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic-Postville will open next Tuesday, July 5. This clinic is in the former Postville Medical Clinic location at 124 West Green Street, in downtown Postville. Minor renovations to the clinic are now being completed.

The clinic will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The clinic will remain open over the noon lunch hour, then close from 1-2 p.m. each afternoon.

Michelle Crary, Nurse Practitioner, will be the full-time provider in the Postville Clinic working four days a week. “I am glad to be working closer to home and with an organization that focuses on enhancing the lives of their patients,” states Crary. “I wanted to become a nurse practitioner as I wanted to be able to make more of a difference in my patient’s lives. I am very excited to have the opportunity to be doing just that in my own county and close to home.”

Crary has over 10 years of nursing experience at both Gundersen Health and Mayo Clinic in La Crosse, WI, as well as Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. She has been seeing patients at the Veterans Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic-Waukon for the last two months.
Dr. Thomas McMullan will continue to see patients at the Postville Clinic two days per week.

“I am going to continue to have a medical presence in Postville and will be working in Waukon as well,” states Dr. McMullan.  “The hospital has expanded the hours and services offered to the Postville Community with the addition of Michelle as a full-time provider.”

This will be the second clinic to be opened and managed by Veterans Memorial Hospital in just over a year. The Waukon and Postville locations will work closely, sharing many services and staff, ensuring patients are seen by a medical provider at one location or the other as soon as possible with great continuity of care between the two facilities. Both clinics ensure providers will be available at both locations, covering for vacations and time off.

“We are very excited to offer complete family medicine including family practice, obstetrics and behavioral health to the Postville area,” states Michael Coyle, CEO of Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Scheduling can also be done for both clinics by calling either location. The Postville Clinic will even retain the same phone number of 563-864-7221. The Waukon Clinic phone number is 563-568-5530.

“The VMH Medical Clinic in Postville gives us an amazing opportunity to spread our services within Allamakee County,” states Laura Baxter, Waukon and Postville Clinic Director. “We will be starting out providing medical care for patients of all ages, and plan to add a Midwife and a Behavioral Health Specialist in the near future as well.”
