Linda Lambert

Surrounded by her family and friends, Linda Lou Lambert passed away peacefully at Welllington Place in Decorah on July 5, 2022, at the age of 80. Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah with Pastors Karla Wildberger and Ken Kimball officiating. Visitation was at Good Shepherd with burial at Old West Paint Creek Cemetery in rural Waukon. Friends may greeted the family Sunday at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to Wellington Place in Decorah.

The daughter of Roy and Esther (Colsch) Svebakken, Linda Lou Lambert was born October 31, 1941, on her family’s farm in Waterville. She was baptized and confirmed at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waukon, attended Waterville Schools until the 11th grade, and graduated from Decorah High School in 1959. Linda also attended Luther College for two years in Decorah and Coleman Technical College in La Crosse, WI, for one year. On February 19, 1966, she married LaVerne Joseph Lambert. They had four children and later divorced. Before returning to raise her children in Decorah, Linda worked as a bookkeeper in La Crosse. She also worked at Wapsie Produce in Decorah for 17 years.

Linda loved being a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah. She was active in the Ruth Circle and TOPS 852. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, walking, quilting, and handiwork. In 2008, Linda moved to Wellington Place in Decorah, where she built long-lasting friendships with other residents and staff and enjoyed activities, visits from family and friends, and doing word puzzles.

She will be missed by her children: Jim Lambert of Coralville, Joe Lambert of Decorah, and LuAnne Lambert of Austin, TX; two grandsons: Mitchell and Tyler Lambert; two brothers: Gene (Carole) Svebakken of Three Oaks, MI, and Richard Svebakken of Davenport; a sister Marlene (Lee) Pierce of Cresco; and the Wellington Place staff. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Lynnette Brown; two grandsons: Sam and Hayes Brown; a sister Sharon Svebakken; and a sister-in-law Jeannie Svebakken.

Linda’s family members served as casketbearers.
