Waukon cheerleaders finish among the best in the state of Iowa during their fall competition season ...

The Waukon High School cheerleading squad recently brought its fall competition season to a close, once again finishing among the best in the state of Iowa in those competition activities that spanned three consecutive weekends. The squad started its competition season Sunday, October 16 at the Spartan Cheer Challenge at the University of Dubuque (photo at center). The ladies swept the top finishes in both their divisions of competition, including the Class 1A/2A Time Out division and Class 1A/2A Stunt division.

The cheer Tribe then competed at the Triton Cheer Challenge held at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge Sunday, October 23 (pictured in lower photo). In that competition, the Indians placed first in the Class 2A Time Out competition and finished second in the Class 2A Stunt division.

The Waukon cheer squad wrapped up its competition season at Iowa’s State Cheerleading Championships in Des Moines Saturday, October 29 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The Indians cheered to a 2A State Runner-Up finish out of eight teams in the Stunt division and placed third out of 17 teams in the Class 2A Time Out division. In addition to their squad competitions, the cheer Indians will also be represented once again this season on the Iowa Cheerleading Coaches’ Association Honor Squad. The senior trio of Ella Dehli, Shania Dundee and Gracia Goc-Ong will be performing with more than 200 other cheerleaders from across the state of Iowa this Saturday, November 18 during halftime of both the Class 2A and Class 3A State Championship football games being played at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, in the UNI-Dome on the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls,
