Waukon bowling teams sweep both North Central and Denver, crowned champions of North Central Conference East Division

The Waukon girls and boys bowling teams continued their winning ways in sweeping fashion with another pair of victories this past week, as both teams swept their same opponent for the sixth and seventh times this season. The Indian girls and boys both defeated North Iowa in a Monday, January 30 road match-up postponed from December 9, the Lady Indians claiming a 2107-1897 victory and the Waukon boys doing likewise by a 2711-2089 final result. Both those squads then wrapped up their home schedule for this season with another opponent sweep, as both teams defeated Denver Friday, February 3, including a 2315-1922 win for the Waukon girls and a 2745-2553 victory for the Indian boys.

This undefeated week improved the Lady Indians’ season record to 8-1 overall, and the Waukon boys currently hold an overall season record of 7-2. Those overall results include an undefeated record for the Waukon girls in the Eastern Division of the North Central Conference, and the Waukon boys have just a single loss to Waterloo Columbus within the Eastern Division portion of their schedule. Those division results in match play have earned championship honors for both the Waukon girls and boys squads in that Eastern Division for this 2022-2023 season, a feat the Indians had last accomplished during their 2019-2022 campaign.

The bowling Indians are next scheduled to wrap up their regular season schedule bowling at New Hampton Friday, February 10. They will then compete in their Class 1A State Qualifying Meet Tuesday, February 14 at Legacy Lanes in Monticello.
