Linda Langland, 71, of Decorah passed away Friday, March 17, 2023. The Langland family is planning a graveside service at a later date in Iowa River Cemetery. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
Linda Adaline Langland was born February 16, 1952 to Charles Edgar Hille Langland and Adaline Lois Nesheim in Spring Grove, MN. Linda graduated from high school in Waukon in 1970, where she was active in many clubs. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bethel College and her master’s in social work from the University of Iowa.
Linda was very adventurous and had many vocations before she settled in Marshalltown. She was in the Air National Guard, worked on the railroad, and obtained her single engine pilot’s license. She spent many years as a school social worker in the Marshalltown area. Linda welcomed foreign exchange students into her home and enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit them. She was also an adoption counselor for many years and enjoyed watching these families welcome their adopted children to the U.S.
Linda is survived by her siblings: David (Beverly) Langland of Las Cruces, NM, Connie (Joe) Witkowski of La Grange Park, IL, Chuck Langland of Decorah and Joan (Sam) Howard of Knoxville, TN; her nephews, Charlie Witkowski and Ed (Erika Berg) Witkowski; her niece, Laura Howard; her grand-nephew, Walter Witkowski; and her grand-niece, Tori Langland.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lois Langland; her brother, Bruce; her nephew, Eric Langland; and her grandparents, Charlie and Clara Langland and Nels and Sarah Nesheim.
