Kee baseball team’s busy past week of eight games includes split of two UIC doubleheaders for pair of wins in that stretch

The Kee baseball team played through one of its busiest weeks of the season, competing in a total of eight games with four doubleheaders being played over the course of six days this past week. The Hawks were able to put two of those games in the win column with a pair of splits of Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) twinbills in the middle of the week. A doubleheader loss at Decorah Monday, May 22 that included defeats of 12-5 and 4-3 was followed by the first of those splits that included a 3-0 win and a 9-1 loss at Turkey Valley Tuesday, May 23. The Kee boys earned another UIC split at home against MFL/MarMac Thursday, May 25, falling in game one by a 3-0 count but battling back for a 2-0 win the nightcap, before being swept at home by Wapsie Valley Saturday, May 27 by scores of 12-0 and 2-1 in a non-conference doubleheader played on the baseball Hawks’ traditional Shooky Fink Tournament weekend.

The baseball Hawks were next scheduled to play Dyersville Beckman at the University of Iowa’s Duane Banks Stadium in Iowa City Wednesday, May 31 before traveling to North Fayette Valley Thursday, June 1 and then playing in the Crusader Baseball Tournament hosted by Coon Rapids-Bayard Saturday, June 3. Kee is then slated to play on five different dates the following week, starting with an Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) doubleheader at Clayton Ridge Monday, June 5, playing Nashua-Plainfield at the Upper Iowa University baseball field in Fayette Tuesday, June 6 and then hosting South Winneshiek Thursday, June 8. The Hawks will then travel to Postville Friday, June 9 before playing in the Cedar River Classic hosted by Charles City Saturday, June 10 against St. Ansgar and Charles City.
