Kee softball team opens UIC schedule with doubleheader sweep at Clayton Ridge, battles through four games at NFV Tournament

The Kee softball team posted a 2-4 record in games played this past week, getting its Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) schedule off to a successful start before back-to-back days of weekend tournament play. That UIC success came at Clayton Ridge Wednesday, May 31, where the Lady Hawks swept a doubleheader from the host Eagles by scores of 10-5 and 14-3 in five innings. The Kee girls then took part in the two-day North Fayette Valley Tournament, falling to Don Bosco, 15-0 in four innings, and to Charles City, 6-0, in Friday, June 2 competition before wrapping up the tournament Saturday, June 3 with another pair of losses to Edgewood-Colesburg, 10-5, and Waterloo Columbus, 13-4.

Currently holding a 2-6 season record that includes a 2-0 start in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the softball Hawks were next scheduled to host North Fayette Valley Monday, June 5 and play at Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 7 - both in UIC doubleheaders - before playing in the Riceville Tournament Saturday, June 10. The Kee ladies will then host MFL/MarMac for a varsity doubleheader Monday, June 12 before playing in the two-day West Delaware Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.
