Kee baseball team’s four wins in seven games include UIC doubleheader sweep at Clayton Ridge, two other road wins

The Kee baseball team hit the road for nearly all of its games this past week, putting four of the week’s seven games into the win column. Three of those wins came early in the week, as the Hawks swept an Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) doubleheader at Clayton Ridge by scores of 13-1 in six innings and 11-2 Monday, June 5 before winning at Nashua-Plainfield, 10-1, Tuesday, June 6. Kee battled Class 1A eighth-rated South Winneshiek to a 3-0 loss at home Thursday, June 8 before winning at Postville Friday, June 9, 16-0 in four innings, and dropping two games at the Cedar River Classic Saturday, June 10 in Charles City, 4-3 to St. Ansgar and 10-0 in five innings to the host Comets.

Standing at an 8-14 overall record at this point, including a mark of 5-4 in Upper Iowa Conference play, the baseball Hawks were next scheduled to play at Janesville Monday, June 12 and host Turkey Valley Tuesday, June 13 before traveling to MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 15 and to Wapsie Valley Friday, June 16. Kee’s diamond dwellers will then play a varsity doubleheader at South Winneshiek Monday, June 19 and host Postville for the same Tuesday, June 20 before hosting Clayton Ridge Thursday, June 22 and then playing in the South Winneshiek Tournament Saturday, June 24.
