Kee softball team’s even split of six games includes UIC home sweep of MFL/MarMac, single win at West Delaware Tournament

In a week heavy on each end but light in the middle, the Kee softball team won half of its six games played this past week. The Lady Hawks opened the week with a sweep of an Upper Iowa Conference doubleheader at MFL/MarMac Monday, June 12 by scores of 13-1 in four innings and 12-7. They then played four games at the two-day West Delaware Tournament this past weekend, falling in two games Friday, June 16 by scores of 12-3 to Class 4A fifth-rated Western Dubuque and 6-5 to Edgewood-Colesburg before splitting two games Saturday, June 17 with an 8-2 win over Class 5A Cedar Rapids Washington followed by a 5-0 loss to North Fayette Valley to finish in 14th place in the 16-team tournament.

Currently holding an 8-13 season record that includes a 6-2 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the softball Hawks were next scheduled to host Postville for a varsity doubleheader Monday, June 19, do likewise with Central Elkader Wednesday, June 21 and then play in the two-day Don Bosco Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 23-24. The Kee diamond dwellers will then wrap up their regular season with a pair of road doubleheaders, at West Central Monday, June 26 and at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 28, with Class 1A Regional Tournament play scheduled to begin Friday, June 30 at a site and against an opponent yet to be determined.
