Getting the opportunity to defend the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) team championship in front of their hometown fans that they won last year, the Waukon cross country boys did just that Tuesday, October 10 at their Waukon Golf & Country Club home course. Placing four of their five scored runners within the All-Conference top-15 and their final scorer just outside of that accolade, the distance Tribe tallied 43 points to successfully repeat its NEIC Championship by an eight-point margin over second-place Decorah.

The Indians are next scheduled to compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet that is slated for this Thursday, October 19, beginning at 4 p.m. at Monticello. Details about the distance Tribe’s postseason possibilities can be found in the Wednesday, October 18, 2023 print and e-edition of the Standard.
