Waukon boys cross country team crowned Class 2A State Qualifying Meet Champions to earn fourth consecutive State Meet qualification


State Qualifying Meet Champions advance to grand finale for fourth straight season ... The seven members of the Waukon boys cross country team pictured at right display the banner they were awarded after winning the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Monticello Thursday, October 19. All seven of those runners finished within the top 21 individual finishers in the meet’s 90-runner field, as the distance Tribe scored 49 team points to claim the meet’s team championship and advance on to the Class 2A State Meet for the fourth consecutive season. Competing “four” so much more!

That’s what the Waukon boys cross country team will be doing after qualifying for the Class 2A State Cross Country Meet for the fourth consecutive season at its State Qualifying Meet held at Monticello Thursday, October 19. That fourth consecutive qualification for the season grand finale came in championship style as the distance Tribe placed all seven of its runners within the top 21 individuals in the 97-runner field, including its five scored runners within the top 19 runners to score 49 team points and win this season’s State Qualifying Meet Championship.

ON TO STATE
The Indians are now scheduled to compete in the Class 2A State Meet at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course near Fort Dodge this Saturday, October 28, beginning at 11:15 a.m. Competing for the fourth consecutive time in the season grand finale, the distance Tribe will be looking to continue its consistent improvement from each of its previous three State Meet campaigns that included 10th-, seventh- and fourth-place team finishes among Class 2A’s distance elite.

The Indians will start Saturday’s race in grid box number 1 out of 20 starting line grid boxes housing more than 130 runners representing both team and individual State Meet qualifiers.
