Lucas Palmer

Lucas Gerald Palmer, age 39, passed away October 26, 2023 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse WI. He was an organ donor.

The public is invited to a “Celebration of Life” for Luke Saturday, November 25 from 1-5 p.m. at the home of his mother. His ashes will be interred at the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Rossville in the family lot.

Lucas was born November 25, 1983 to Gloria Moose and Scott Palmer in Iowa City. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Waukon. He graduated from Waukon High School in 2002. He was married to Heather Tribbit and later divorced after having two children.

Lucas worked many places, including Agriprocessors with his stepfather Kerry, Capco Products with his grandfather Allan, and several positions milking and farming; his favorite being at Buddenburg Farms where he would take care of his “babies,” the calves.

To many he was known as “Lucky Luke”. He was someone who could make anyone laugh. As quick as his wit and banter were, he was a better listener.

Luke amassed impressive collections, most notably his pocket knives, watches, Zippo lighters and coins - he was really into small coins. He was a man of knowledge and many talents. Many of Luke’s talents had the artistic touch. He thoroughly enjoyed creating things with his own hands.

These skills extended into the realm of mechanics. He was often found either taking something apart or putting it back together. Luke loved his motorcycles and rode whenever he could.

Among the things he loved was his beloved canine sidekick and companion “June Bug”. Above all else, he loved his children, Lance and Haley, the most.

Luke is survived by his mother, Gloria Moose, and his father, Scott Palmer; his children, Lance and Haley Palmer; his older brother, Nathan Palmer and wife Sabrina and their children Shareigha and Calista; his sister, Hannah Nuehring and her son Jensen; his younger brother, Caleb Nuehring; his grandma Betty Halverson and her husband Dennis; as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Luke is also survived by friends as close family, Brian and Emma, Shianne and Minnie from Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allan and Patrecia Palmer, Claud and Anna Mae Moose and Oliver Nuehring; his stepfather, Kerry Nuehring; his cousins, Kelly Gordon and Mike Moose; and his uncle, Greg Moose.
