The Kee boys basketball team will be benefiting from the return of nearly every one of its players from a squad last winter that played to a 7-15 season record and had just one senior on its roster. That large returning squad includes seven varsity letterwinners from last season that include a senior class of just two players this season.

That senior pair includes Kaleb Drape and Andrew Kolsrud, and those two most veteran upperclassmen are joined by five juniors, three of whom broke on to the varsity scene two seasons ago already as freshmen. Jordan Cota, Brayden Darling, Dalton Mudderman, Jarod Reams and Karsen Strong round out this season’s list of returning varsity veterans.

“I believe we will be a well-rounded team this season,” Kee boys basketball head coach Jeff Cota shared. “We’ve got good guard play to go along with some talented players around the paint. Dalton did an excellent job handling the point guard responsibilities last season and Jordan was the second-leading scorer and one of the top rebounders in the conference. We have as good of size as I can ever remember at Kee High with five kids listed at 6’2” or taller. Brayden has added some size since last season and has been looking good in practice. He can really affect shots in the paint.”

The Hawks were scheduled to get their 2023-2024 season underway Thursday, November 30 at De Soto, WI before playing at the home of that MFL/MarMac squad Coach Cota sees as this season’s UIC favorite Friday, December 1. The Kee boys will then play their first home game of the season Tuesday, December 5, hosting Clayton Ridge, before playing at North Fayette Valley Friday, December 8.
