The Waukon boys wrestling team completed one of its busiest weeks of the season on the mat this past week, competing in a trio of dual meets followed by a weekend tournament, all within a span of five days. The mat Tribe opened the week with a sweep of two dual meets at home Tuesday, December 5, taking care of Fillmore Central-Lanesboro-Mabel-Canton (FCLMC) out of Minnesota by a score of 57-19 before doing likewise with South Winneshiek, 46-30. The wrestling Indians then gave Class 3A fifth-rated Waverly-Shell Rock a strong battle before falling to them by a 40-33 final result in a Thursday, December 7 home Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) dual. The Waukon matmen wrapped up their busy week by wrestling to a second-place team finish at the Zimmerman Tournament hosted by Maquoketa High School Saturday, December 9, crowning two champions and claiming a pair of runner-up finishes to end up in second place in the 17-team tournament field.

The mat Tribe will next host Decorah Thursday, December 14 before competing at the Starmont Tournament Saturday, December 16. The Indians will then wrap up the pre-holiday portion of their schedule competing at a multi-team event at Postville Thursday, December 21 before returning to the mat Thursday, January 4 to start the new year with a NEIC dual at Charles City and then competing at the Crestwood Tournament Saturday, January 6.
