The jury trial in the first degree murder case of Brandon Kasemeier, the 40-year-old man from Waukon charged in the January 21, 2024 death of his estranged wife, Jami Kasemeier, will remain in Allamakee County for now, but it will also be delayed four more months following a hearing held by video conference in Allamakee County District Court Monday, December 30 and ensuing rulings handed down this past week from that hearing.
Kasemeier’s defense team of Raya Dimitrova and Erin Carr of Carr Law Firm, P.L.C., Des Moines had filed a December 6, 2024 motion for a change of venue for the January 29, 2025 jury trial that had been scheduled in the case. That same defense team also filed a motion to request contact information for the November 2024 jury pool for Allamakee County District Court to help determine through a representative survey process if a fair and unbiased jury could be anticipated for the upcoming trial. Both of those motions were contested by the State of Iowa prosecution team prior to both being part of the December 30 hearing.
