Waukon boys basketball team’s three games this week includes win over South Winn, losses to Sumner-Fredericksburg and second-rated Decorah

The Waukon boys basketball team played through a busy week of three games in five nights this past week, putting only the first of those contests in the win column. The Indians opened the week with a 67-59 home victory over South Winneshiek Monday, January 27 before finishing up the week with consecutive nights of competition that included a narrow, 74-71 loss at Sumner-Fredericksburg Thursday, January 30 before also falling at home to Class 3A second-rated Decorah, 72-37.

Now holding an 8-8 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference play, Waukon’s boys were next scheduled to host Central Elkader Monday, February 3 before playing at Charles City Friday, February 7. They will then play one last busy week of their regular season that begins at La Crescent, MN Monday, February 10 before hosting Crestwood Tuesday, February 11 and then playing at Jesup Thursday, February 13 before awaiting their Class 2A District Tournament assignment yet to be announced. The Class 2A District Tournament is slated to begin with first-round action Monday, February 17.
