Ronald Eugene Erb of Prairieville, LA, and formerly of Waukon, passed away March 16, 2025. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, followed with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor.
Born January 15, 1940 in Postville to Elmer and Arlene (Larson) Erb, Ronnie and his two sisters, Shirley and Janet, grew up on the family farm south of Luana. He graduated from Luana High School, Class of 1957 and worked at his parents’ Luana Tap and drove truck for Duane Wolter Trucking. He married Nyla DeSotel in 1958 and the couple later moved to the Waukon area with their six children.
Ronnie worked for a short time at Feuerhelm Manufacturing before becoming an LP gas salesman for Northeast Farm Service, where he was employed for 25 years. The couple also had a successful woodworking business, The Cradle Shop, that specialized in custom doll cradles. Ronnie and Nyla moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where they divorced.
Ronnie and Judy Boudreaux from Thibodeaux, LA married in 1995. He worked for B & D Plumbing prior to his retirement. The couple loved to travel across the U.S. and Canada and were members of the Airstream Club International. Besides traveling, Ronnie enjoyed fishing, college sports, and was an avid recycler of metals.
Ronnie is survived by many family members including his wife, Judy; his children, Jim and Candy Erb of Keystone, Deb Christensen of Fredricksburg, Julie Baxter of Stoughton, WI, Joy and Cary Moser of Westby, WI, Jordin and Christy Erb of Titusville, AL, and Jay (special friend, Lori) Erb of Waukon; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe; his daughter-in-law, Judy; and a grandson, Michael Erb.
