Mudderman’s 44 points at New Hampton is new single-game school record, tops sister’s previous mark

The Kee girls basketball team opened the new year taking on a trio of former Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) teams, recording wins over two of those three larger school squads and having some program history rewritten along the way. That stretch began with a 54-34 loss at Class 4A Decorah Friday, January 2 before the Hawks recorded back-to-back victories over former NEIC teams that are now members of the Upper Iowa Conference, including a 68-46 triumph at New Hampton Tuesday, January 6, and a 50-46 victory at home over Waukon Friday, January 9.

That win over New Hampton also included that bit of rewritten program history, as Kee junior Rylee Mudderman poured in a new school record 44 points in that contest. That point total eclipsed the previous mark of 43 points that was recorded five seasons ago by Mudderman’s older sister, 2021 Kee graduate Reagan Mudderman, who happened to score her school record total in that very same gym in New Hampton.

The Lady Hawks were next scheduled to play at South Winneshiek Tuesday, January 13 before hosting MFL/MarMac this Friday, January 16. They will then play back-to-back nights to start next week, at East Buchanan Monday, January 19 and at home against West Central Tuesday, January 20, before playing at Class 1A ninth-rated Turkey Valley Friday, January 23 for a chance to avenge a 43-39 home loss to the Lady Trojans from back in early December.
