Waukon girls wrestling team completes undefeated busy week with pair of tournament team titles and sweep of two dual meets

The Waukon girls wrestling team competed in a busy week this past week and turned in what may very likely be the best week of results in the program’s history, as the Lady Indians topped every team they faced this past week in two tournament victories and a sweep of two dual meets as well. The mat Tribe opened the week with a rare Monday tournament at Dubuque Senior January 12, topping that eight-team field and crowning four champions, before defeating both Central Elkader, 60-24, and North Fayette Valley, 48-18, in a home triangular event Tuesday, January 13. The Waukon girls wrapped up the week how they started, finishing on top of a second consecutive tournament after crowning two champions at the Postville Invitational Friday, January 16.

The Lady Indians were next scheduled to wrestle at Decorah Tuesday, January 20 before competing in the Upper Iowa Conference Tournament at North Fayette High School in West Union, which has been moved up a day to this Thursday, January 22 from its original January 23 date due to impending weather. They will then prepare for their Class 1A Regional Tournament at Crestwood Friday, January 30.
