Waukon girls basketball team’s undefeated week ends regular season with 56-11 win over Charles City and opens regional tournament play with 56-46 victory over Oelwein

The Waukon girls basketball team both ended its regular season and began its postseason within two games this past week, with both of those contests being played against fellow former Northeast Iowa Conference opponents at home and both ending up in the win column. The Lady Indians wrapped up their regular season schedule with a 56-11 home triumph over Charles City Tuesday, February 10 and then opened their Class 3A Region 4 Tournament with a 56-46 victory at home over Oelwein Saturday, February 14.
With that first-round victory over Oelwein, the Lady Indians were next scheduled to play at fourth-rated Dubuque Wahlert in the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament Wednesday, February 18, beginning at 7 p.m. The winner of that match-up will then play the winner of the other Region 4 semifinal match-up featuring Center Point-Urbana vs. Crestwood in the Region 4 championship game scheduled for Saturday, February 21 at 7 p.m. at a site to be determined, with that championship game winner then advancing on to the Class 3A State Tournament.
