Supervisors approve pair of public hearings for May 26 meeting, discuss the placement of signage for turtle crossing awareness

by Joe Moses

The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, May 4 to address a full agenda of matters including discussion of county roads and signage relating to turtles, consideration of the annual Solutions software and IT contract, and consideration of the speed limit Resolution for North Rhomberg Avenue (X52), Harpers Ferry. The meeting was called to order by Board of Supervisors Chairperson Tom Clark with Supervisors Dan Byrnes and Dennis Keatley present.

There was no Public Comment during the time allotted for that agenda item. There was also no action relating to the next agenda item which was allotted 20 minutes on the meeting’s timed agenda, as a scheduling conflict did not allow for Veterans Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide an update.

The Supervisors moved into the consideration of the annual Solutions contract with GIS Coordinator Jon Luchsinger providing an overview of the matter. Luchsinger made note of an approximate seven-percent cost increase relating to software and information technology (IT) services in comparison to last year’s contract with Solutions, a software and IT services provider for local governments. Luchsinger discussed the 22-percent increase seen the year prior which he noted was the result of a contract renewal after being locked into a five-year contract which provided protection against yearly price increases. Following discussion, the Supervisors approved the annual contract with Solutions relating to software for multiple county departments and the IT service agreement for the County Courthouse and Sheriff’s office.

Clark addressed the next matter relating to the notification of e-filed Manure Management Plan (eMMP) updates from Cyclone I and EB Ag LP. Clark advised that the public is welcome to contact the County Auditor’s office for assistance in viewing these eMMP updates on the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website.
