Bernard D. Pausch, 90, of Waukon died Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Emplify Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Pastor Mark Oehlert officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Bernard Darwin Pausch was born August 18, 1935, in Postville, the son of Harvey and Florence (Thornton) Pausch. He attended country school in the Postville area and graduated from Postville High School. October 20, 1956, he married Mary Andregg at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bernard and Mary lived in Postville, Waterloo, and Bowling Green, OH, where he was a meat inspector for the USDA. He and Mary moved to Waukon in 2000.
Bernard was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon where he was an usher. He enjoyed going to the Waukon Wellness Center where he would go to walk and visit with friends every day. Bernard also enjoyed going for breakfast with his friends, bowling, working in his flower garden, and fishing, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children: Patty Hyde, James Pausch, Evelyn (Michael) Noon, and Rose Pausch, all of Bowling Green, OH, Penny Wiessinger of Waukon, and Rita Argobright of Maryland; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marlin Pausch of Waukon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary, who died in 2012; a granddaughter, Brittany Albrecht; a son-in-law, Tony Hyde; a sister-in-law, Rose Snitker; and a brother-in-law, Charles Andregg.Casketbearers were Mark, Michael, and William Wiessinger, Nathan Pausch, A.J. Argobright, and Payton Wade.
