ACSD Board of Directors approves changes to student handbooks for upcoming school year, second reading of school board policy regarding purchasing-bidding

The Allamakee Community School District (ACSD) Board of Directors met for its regular monthly meeting Monday night, June 15. Under the Consent Agenda, the board approved the following personnel matters: Katy Heldt as West Elementary Secretary; 2026-2027 teacher mentors; Kloe Hemmersbach as eighth grade volleyball coach; Frank Weymiller, Ross Weymiller and Tim Bulman as volunteer football coaches; a $10 increase in teacher substitute pay to $150 and a $10 increase in teacher long-term substitute pay to $200; and an increase in paraprofessional hours for Tyme Lidsay.

The board approved the appointment of Patty Nordheim to the Waukon Park and Recreation Board as the school board’s representative on that board. The board also approved two resignations, including Ella Dehli from her paraprofessional position and Tyler Scholl from his position as girls head varsity track coach. The board also approved the transfer of Devin-James Beckert from Assistant Musical Director to Head Musical Director.

Also under the Consent Agenda, one open enrollment into the district was approved. The following agreements between Keystone Area Education Agency (AEA) and the Allamakee Community School District were also approved, including a contract for Transfer of State AEA Special Education Funding; a Service Agreement; and a Social Worker Sharing Agreement. Preschool Partnership Agreements with Growing Bear Day Care Center and St. Patrick School Preschool Center were also approved. A Special Education Contract with Chileda Institute was approved, as was participation in the Youth Frontiers program. The Board also agreed to renewal of Iowa School Information Services and the renewal of property and liability insurance for the 2026-2027 school year.
