Waukon baseball team records wins over Clayton Ridge, North Fayette Valley and at Starmont, suffers lone loss at home to Kee

Although weather once again played a role in a week of Waukon baseball this past week, the Indians were able to play four games and put three of those in the win column to improve to an 8-3 season record that includes a 6-1 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play at this point in the season. The diamond Tribe had a Monday, June 8 home doubleheader with North Fayette Valley postponed to two different dates, one game of which was made up this past Friday, June 12 and resulted in a 15-3 triumph, and the other now being part of a June 29 two-game set that will also involve MFL/MarMac.

The Indians also finished off a May 26 suspended game at home against Clayton Ridge, completing a 10-0 victory Tuesday, June 9 in five innings. The Tribe’s only loss of the week came in a rain-shortened home game Wednesday, June 10 by a 7-4 count to Kee in a game called official in the sixth inning after stormy weather arrived. Waukon had a Thursday, June 11 home doubleheader with Dubuque Senior called off due to rainy weather, and the Indians wrapped up their week following up that 15-3 June 12 win over North Fayette Valley in the morning with a 6-5 road victory at Starmont later that same Friday, June 12 evening.

The Indians were next scheduled to play two varsity games at New Hampton Monday, June 15, host Anamosa Tuesday, June 16 for a varsity reserve/varsity date, play another such series at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 17 and now play a varsity doubleheader at MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 18 before playing at Riceville in another varsity reserve/varsity doubleheader in a rare Saturday date for the diamond Tribe, June 20. Waukon is then slated to play a varsity reserve/varsity date at Decorah Monday, June 22, make up a June 4 home postponement with New Hampton Tuesday, June 23 at 5 p.m. and also host Charles City at 7 p.m. for two different varsity opponents that same night, and then also host varsity reserve/varsity dates against Postville, Wednesday, June 24, and Crestwood, Thursday, June 25.
