Final days to provide input on City of Waukon Comprehensive Plan; Complete Waukon Community Survey by Friday, July 31

In an effort to gather as much public input as possible to incorporate into the City of Waukon’s Comprehensive Plan update that is currently underway, a Waukon Community Survey is available to area residents and visitors. Input through the community is being gathered until this Friday, July 31, so those who would like to have their voices heard are urged to complete the survey prior to the deadline at the end of this month.

Paper surveys and drop-off locations for completed surveys are available at the Waukon Wellness Center, Robey Memorial Library in Waukon, and City of Waukon offices temporarily located in the former Allamakee County Relief Office at 12 1st Avenue NW in Waukon. The survey can also be completed online by scanning the QR code accompanying this article or by visiting the following website: surveymonkey.com/r/QF8BTJT.

Senior Regional Planner Michelle Barness of Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission (UERPC) says the community survey will allow Waukon residents to help determine needs and direction for growth relating to housing, economic development, infrastructure and facilities, agricultural and natural resources, recreation and land use, among other aspects impacting the daily lives of community residents. Survey feedback will also help identify community strengths, needs, and priorities, and help shape goals for Waukon’s future.

UERPC has been contracted to perform the comprehensive planning process to be updated in 2026 into early 2027 with a similar process having been completed over a decade ago in 2015, also by UERPC at that time.
