Main Street Story Walk in downtown Waukon this November and December ...

Families are invited to explore downtown Waukon and enjoy the magic of reading together as Robey Memorial Library, in collaboration with the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation (OVLS), presents the Main Street Story Walk throughout November and December. This season’s featured book is “Over and Under the Snow” by Kate Messner, a delightful winter adventure that follows a cross-country ski trip through the snowy woods, revealing the hidden world of animals living beneath the snow.

The story will unfold page by page in the windows of six participating local businesses along West Main Street, pictured and numbered in the image above. Families can stroll from one location to the next, reading the story together while enjoying the outdoors and discovering what downtown Waukon has to offer. As outlined in the image above, participating businesses include Hello Sunshine, Epic Wear, Aztec Parlor, Rockweiler Appliance, Hartig Drug and Maui Sunshine. After completing the Story Walk, families are encouraged to visit Robey Memorial Library. Participants can receive a free book by showing a photo to library staff of their family enjoying the Story Walk or by providing the secret code word available along the Story Walk journey.

The Main Street Story Walk offers a fun, interactive way for families to spend time together, encourage a love of reading and support local businesses. Whether longtime residents or visitors to the area, families are invited to experience this special community activity throughout November and December. Submitted image.
