Allamakee County Farm Bureau hosting its annual Hat and Mitten Drive for area school-age youth

The Allamakee County Farm Bureau is sponsoring its annual Hat and Mitten Drive in anticipation of the upcoming winter weather season. Donation tubs will be placed at Veterans Memorial Hospital and at the three banks in Waukon, as well as at the Allamakee County Farm Bureau office, which is located at 14 First Avenue NE in Waukon.

According to Allamakee County Farm Bureau President Dustin Byrnes, the hope is to collect many hats, mittens, snow pants and scarves that will be distributed to local schools in December so they can be distributed to children in need of these items. Byrnes expresses his appreciation for the community's support with many donated items in the past and stresses that the need for such items is always great during these tough economic times.

Those who would like to make a donation may drop off such items at the business locations listed above or at the Farm Bureau office no later than Tuesday, December 17 and the office staff will deliver them to the schools.
