Delphey selected for Leadership Seminar

Brianna Delphey, daughter of Fred and Jeanene Delphey of Waukon and a student at Iowa State University majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication, was recently selected to participate in the Dean's International Leadership Seminar in Sydney, Australia. Selection is competitive and is based on a thorough review of all applicants and a personal interview with the program leader.

Dr. Cheryl Achterberg, Dean of the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences, and Walt Gmelch, Den of the University of San Francisco School of Education, will join prominent scholars from Australia's Monash University at the Australian Institute of Management in Sydney to teach contemporary management issues, leadership styles, conflict resolution, Australian history and culture, and team leadership.

Leadership strategies and effective use of leadership skills in a multicultural setting will be emphasized. The group will visit Sydney, attend an event in the Sydney Opera House, tour other educational sites in the city, hike the Blue Mountains, and explore beaches of Australia's sunshine coast to more thoroughly understand Asia-Pacific leadership styles, Australian history, and Aboriginal culture.
