Jennifer Duvel and Gary Johnson Jr. were united in marriage June 19, 2004, at Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Pastor Susan Debner officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Chuck and Lorna Duvel and Gary and Mary Johnson, all of Postville. Grandparents of the bride are Wilbur and Sarah Wilkins of Lansing and Orv and Laura Duvel of Postville. Grandparents of the groom are Roger and Norma Johnson of Waukon.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Her personal attendants were Patty Dahlstrom and Deirdre McConnell.
Maid of honor was Brenda Hartley and bridesmaids were Kris Stone, sister of the groom, and Brooke Wilkins, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Sabrina Duvel, sister of the bride.
Best man for the ceremony was Steve Johnson, brother of the groom, and groomsmen were Tony Duvel, brother of the bride, and Tony Johnson, nephew of the groom. Ring bearer was Tyler Johnson, son of the groom.
Ushers were Dominique Wilkins and Nicolai Wilkins, cousins of the bride, Beau Langland, and Karen Cota, sister of the groom.
The bride’s cousin Erena Jensen was vocalist and Paul Bruvold, cousin of the bride accompanied on organ. Music included “The Wedding Song,” “In This Very Room,” and “God, a Woman, and a Man.”
A reception was held at 6 p.m. at the Waukon Reception and Banquet Center.
Hosts for the event were Kurt Wilkins, uncle of the bride, and Tom Collins and Wayne Johnson, uncles of the groom.
James and Wanda Collins, uncle and aunt of the groom, presided at the guest book.
Pat Kerndt, cousin of the groom, and Brenda Fredrickson, aunt of the bride, were cake cutters.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Waukon Senior High. She earned a diploma for early childhood at Northeast Iowa Community College and is working on her associate of arts degree in early childhood at NICC. She’s a teacher at Waukon Headstart and works part time as a manager at Main Feature as well as helping on the family farm.
The groom is a 1990 Waukon Senior High graduate and works on the family farm.
The couple resides in rural Waukon.
