Family Snowshoe event scheduled for December 28

The Allamakee County Conservation Board (ACCB) will be hosting a “Family Snowshoe” Saturday, December 28 at the Yellow River State Forest Headquarters, located at 729 State Forest Road, Harpers Ferry. The event will be free of charge and open to the public. Appropriate-sized snowshoes and trekking poles will be provided by the ACCB for everyone who attends. Participants should dress for the weather with appropriate layers including outerwear, winter hats, gloves and waterproof boots.
The Family Snowshoe event is designed to introduce snowshoeing to people who are interested but do not have their own equipment. Participants may arrive at the event anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. to try their hand at snowshoeing. Allamakee County Conservation staff with experience in snowshoeing will provide basic skills and techniques. No registration is needed. In case of inclement weather or insufficient snow, the event will be canceled.
