Firmin Erding

Firmin Erding, 90, of Waukon, died April 30, 2000, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held May 4 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Waukon under the direction of Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg. Burial was in St. Pius - Cherry Mound Cemetery of Waterville.
Firmin was born April 11, 1910, in Plainview, MN, the son of John and Cecelia Hart Erding. He married Margaret Heim July 26, 1933, at St. Pius - Cherry Mound. The couple farmed in the Ion area of rural Harpers Ferry, until a move to Waukon twelve years ago. Firmin was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Dorothy Ann Erding; and two sisters, Charlotte Bakken and Wilma Erding.
Survivors include a son, Charles Erding, Minneapolis, MN; and three daughters, Donna Smith, Endwell, NY, Dianne Wolfe, Harpers Ferry, and Kay Barry, North Hills, CA; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Carroll, Winona, MN, and Dorothy Anderson, Rochester, MN; and a brother, Kenneth Erding, Wykoff, MN.
Casketbearers for the service were grandsons Dave Wolfe, Larry Wolfe, Donald Wolfe, Lyle Erding, Stan Smith and Scott Smith.
Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
