•Wendy Waters and Jeffrey Jacobson announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. The couple will marry at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

•Alex Werger, son of Cathy and Al Werger and Brittany Bacon, daughter of Sam and Sandy Bacon were named homecoming king and queen at festivities at the Pirate Football game Friday night.

•Kathy Turner and Paul Jungblut were Grand Marshals of the Homecoming Parade Thursday evening. The Parade along with many other Homecoming Festivities are coordinated by the Postville High School Student Council.

•Captain Daniel and Amy Saucer of Pratteville, Alabama announce the birth of their son, Alan Michael. Gloria Looney is the little lad's great-grandmother.

•Ten Years Ago

Kathy Hoffsommer and Alan Gunderson announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They will repeat vows at St Paul Lutheran Church in Postville in October.

•The Pirates scored a big win over Sumner by a score of 28-18. Scoring touchdowns for Postville were Brent Grinna, and Brad Snitker. The Big Stick Award went to Gary Simmons, Jr. and the Grubber of the Week went to Matt Leeman.

•Homecoming king and queen were Andy Zweibohmer and Nikki Huinker.

•Twenty-Five Years Ago

•Mr. and Mrs. James Ewing returned to Postville Thursday after spending a few days with the Robert Clarks in Branson, MI.

•Carol Lynn Drewes and Paul Otte Collingworth exchanged marriage vows September 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldean Drewes, the bride wore her mother's wedding dress.

•Homecoming king and queen candidates were announced last week at the high school. They were Glen Ohloff, Kendall Rathje, Randy Friederich, Daphne Deering, Nicky Hughes and Debbie Schwinefus. Crowned at the game were King Kendall Rathje and Queen Nicky Hughes. The Pirates won the Homecoming game by a score of 20-18 over Sumner.

•Fifty Years Ago

•Bob Berns, senior halfback, was selected as player of the week by the Postville Athletic Booster Club.

•Home Oil Company has moved to its new station on the corner of Lawler and Tilden Streets. The Turner Insurance Agency to its new quarters in the former bowling alley building on the West Greene Street.

•Mary Jane Casten left Saturday morning for Nashville, Tenn. where she will attend Peabody College after having spent the last three weeks in the parental Lorenz Casten home.
