Genevieve Wild

Genevieve R. Wild, 91, of Lansing died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, June 29 at Immaculate Conception Church, with burial at Gethsemane Cemetery, both in Lansing.

Genevieve was born March 27, 1918 at Wexford to Matt and Margaret (Thornton) Guider. She married Milton Wild August 8, 1938. She was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, teaching at Mays Prairie, New Albin, Harpers Ferry and Lansing. Her hobbies included crocheting and doing crafts. Genevieve also enjoyed the river, sitting on the deck, and being with all her friends and relatives.

Genevieve is survived by two daughters, Connie (Bob) Gallagher of Waukon and Patti Wild Strobel (Joe Strobel) of Lansing; grandchildren, Shawn (Tina) Gallagher, Craig (Annette) Gallagher, Michelle Bakke (Mike Hansmeier) and Lisa Guider; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton, September 5, 1999; and siblings, Lucille Brazell, Catherine Betthauser, Marge Bigelow, Ann Thomson and three infant brothers.

Honorary casketbearers were Kay Mooney, Marge Setter, Avis Smith, JoAnn Odneal, Diane Sorenson, Dodie Bartels, Janet Tech, Maureen Thode, Nancy Anderson and Jan Davenport. Casketbearers were Justin Bakke, Jordin Bakke, Jenna Bakke, Corbin Gallagher, Chase Gallagher, Paige Gallagher, Taite Gallagher and Elissa Wild Strobel.
