Head-on collision claims life of Waukon woman

A head-on collision resulted in a fatality Monday, October 26 at around 10:13 a.m. about three-fourths of a mile south of Waukon on Highway 9 near Village Farm and Home. According to a report from the Allamakee County Sheriff's Office, a sport utility vehicle driven by 39-year-old Elaine Marie Bodley of Waukon was northbound on Highway 9 when it crossed the centerline, striking a car driven by 85-year-old Ruth Darlene Johnson of Waukon.
Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, where Johnson was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Bodley was treated and released.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the Waukon Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Waukon Fire Department and Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service.
