Holidays will affect rural garbage sites

The rural garbage sites in Allamakee County will see a slight change in their pick-up schedule after a holiday closure, according to Allamakee County Solid Waste Director Dave Mooney. For future reference, if a garbage site is unavailable the day of a holiday (such as the upcoming New Year's holiday), the garbage truck will be at that affected site the following evening. All other sites will run per their normal weekly schedule, with no changing of the hours or day of pick-up.
The major holidays that the rural sites in Allamakee County will be closed include Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Those with further questions may call the Allamakee County Solid Waste Department at 563-568-4806.
