Letter to the Editor-Churchtown Dump Cat Rescue

Instead of a New Years resolution this year, I have set a few goals for myself for 2008. My most important goal is to be able to go to the Churchtown dump and not see any more homeless cats there.

My sister, Judi, has already rescued four cats from the dumpsters in Churchtown. The one that I was lucky enough to adopt was barely two months old when my sister found her in the empty dumpster, unable to get out on her own. It was freezing cold that night and the dumpsters wreaked from dead animal carcasses.

Ebony, my beautiful, new calico kitten, has brought much happiness and entertainment to my household of eight cats and one dog. The problem is that both of my sisters and I already have nine or so cats and are still sane enough to realize that we cannot afford any more. That is why we are asking community members, like yourself, for help with finding homes for the cats at Churchtown and also contributing to the ever-rising costs of spaying/neutering and other medical expenses.
