Home ›Living Wreath workshop set for April 18 in area
Imagine a wreath that lasts for years, filled with living plants that thrive with minimal care and even bloom. Look up living wreaths on the Internet and you’ll see wreaths that sell for several hundred dollars. Yet, it’s not difficult to make your own.
At 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, ISU Extension of Allamakee County will have a Living Wreath Workshop at the Lee and Ruth White farm located at 462 Forest Mills Road near Postville.
Participants will make a soil-filled wreath covered by Spanish Moss, sphagnum moss or willow shoots and plant hen and chicks and a variety of sedums into their wreath. This 12-inch wreath will make a nice display that can be laid flat, or hung after plants are well-rooted. As the plants grow, the wreath will fill out to make an outstanding display.
Registration will be limited to 10 people, so call the Allamakee County Extension office at 568-6345 to register. The cost for the workshop will be $20, which will include plants and all materials to construct the wreath.
