Duane Leppert of Lansing joins 57 other farmers who volunteer their time to share agriculture's story with their communities and the media, as members of the 2005 Iowa Farm Bureau Speaker Corps.
Speaker Corps members use their on-farm experiences to speak to community clubs, service organizations, school organizations, local businesses and others interested in hearing about agriculture. A variety of topics are offered by members such as agriculture and the environment, agriculture and the economy, challenges and opportunities on the farm, current ag issues and events, food and farm safety, Farm Bureau and more. The members are also available to assist members of the news media in reporting on agricultural issues.
The Iowa Farm Bureau Speaker Corps was established in 1992 to enhance consumer awareness about agriculture. Since its beginning, more than 200 farmers have participated. Speaker Corps members are available to speak at no charge. For more information on the Speaker Corps members, visit the press room at www.iowa farmbureau.com.
