These seven young ladies pictured represent the eight Waukon Senior High School seniors who were honored as State of Iowa Scholars for the year 2005. Fellow classmate Chantel Snitker, who lost her life in an November 2004 accident, was also honored with selection as a 2005 State of Iowa Scholar. This year’s 1,457 selected scholars rank in the upper three percent of their high school graduating classes and achieved an average score of 29 on the ACT exam. “Iowans can be proud of these talented young people who have set high standards for academic achievement,” said Karen Misjak, Iowa College Student Aid Commission Executive Director. “As we recognize their success, we encourage them to pursue further education at Iowa’s college and universities.” A complete list of the 2005 State of Iowa Scholars and their high schools is displayed on the College Student Aid Commission’s website at www.iowacollegeaid.org.
