LUCILLE BYRNES

Lucille Loretta Byrnes, 88, of Lansing, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing. Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 24, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing with Fr. Herbert Tegeler officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing.
Lucille was born February 15, 1912, to John and Eva (Huffman) Mauss in Allamakee County’s Union City Township. She attended Clear Creek country school and graduated from Waukon High School in May, 1931. She the UNI Teachers College and later worked in Dubuque. On April 27, 1937, she married Cyril Byrnes at Lycurgus Church in rural Waukon. In August of 1953, they moved to Lansing and she was employed at the Lansing Button Factory, where she worked until her retirement in June of 1974.
She is survived by four daughters; Pauline (Milo) Dundee of Marquette, IA, Karen Keatley of Waukon, Carol (Bernard) Dougherty of New Albin,and Shirley Olsen of Cashton, WI; two sons, Donald of Ossian and James of Waukon; twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cyril; one son, Kenneth; an infant grand daughter; two brothers, Joe and Raymond Mauss; and one son-in-law, Fred Keatley.
Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
