Main Feature Theater taking steps to become a community resource

Main Feature Theater on Main Street in Waukon has announced a series of changes that will facilitate the theater becoming the community resource it hopes to be. Sunday, February 3, Iron Ridge Church, owner of the theater, announced that changes are now underway that will not only allow Main Feature to serve the community and its customers even better but will also allow the theater to offer a wider array of services to the community.
Iron Ridge Church owners say that in keeping with their vision of making the theater a resource for the area and better serve the community, they are going to be upgrading what Main Feature is able to offer. They say they have made good progress with ceiling repairs and the digital projector upgrade, but note that now is the time to take it to the next level and move to a new standard of excellence.
In order to do this, Main Feature is in the midst of a brief shut-down of operations for the next week or so while several updates to the interior of the lobby and the theater are completed.  These include the installation of a new concession area and an appearance upgrade. Once the remodels are completed, Main Feature will not only continue to offer pizza and appetizers but will be positioned to offer more traditional theater-style concessions such as popcorn and candy as well.
Moreover, the theater also plans to offer up to three different movies showing daily, considering such events as Saturday morning matinees, late night showings, amateur nights, classic movies and even looking into the feasibility of showing sporting events or the possibility of hosting gaming tournaments on the theater's big screen.
Main Feature is also working toward becoming a more community-centered resource, believing in the value of doing as much business as possible with local suppliers. To that end, theater owners are currently reaching out to establish those relationships. Furthermore, Main Feature is also reaching out to other local organizations to begin building deeper connections that will benefit the community.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
In that effort to become more community-centered, Main Feature is hosting a logo and mascot contest. The theater is soliciting design ideas for a key logo to emphasize the dine-in theater experience, and is also looking for ideas for a mascot design that will be immediately recognizable but unique to Main Feature. Logo or mascot ideas selected to be used, either whole or in part, will receive a coupon for five free large pizzas and 10 free movie tickets. Visit www.mainfeaturetheater.com for additional details.
Main Feature is also seeking the public's input on how to improve what they offer, potential local suppliers, or suggestions for changes. Those ideas can be e-mailed to manager@mainfeaturetheater.com.
With the process of upgrading expecting to cost approximately $10,000, anyone who would like to support Main Feature's endeavor, either financially or by helping complete the remodels, is asked to contact the theater. In their efforts to most effectively engage and support the local community, theater owners know that a reciprocal relationship is necessary to maintain and further improve upon the community landmark that has been in existence for the past 103 years, knowing full well that they need local community support and business to make this transition to a community resource work.
A grand re-opening is being planned for the near future to feature the enhancements made to Main Feature Theater. Additional information about that grand re-opening will be published as it becomes available.
